PAN CARD REGISTRATION / CORRECTION

PAN is also known as Permanent Account number and can be defined as unique ten digit alphanumeric number which is issued by the Department of income tax to the Indian taxpayers.
The Income TaxDepartment keeps a record of all the tax-related transactions and information of an individual against his PAN . This in turn enables taxpayer to link all tax-related activities with the Department.

The process for registration of PAN card is as follows

  • 1. Visit the income tax websitewww.incometax.gov.in
  • 2. Click on the option 'Register'.
  • 3. Under the taxpayer tab, enter the PAN of the taxpayer and then click on validate.
  • 4. Select the option 'yes' and click on 'continue'.
  • 5. Fill in the basic details such as first name, last name, middle name, date of birth, gender and residential status and then click on continue.
  • 6. For validating of the registration process, the user has to then provide the mobile number, e mail id as well as postal address details.
  • 7. Then, click on continue and enter the OTP received on the mobile number and e mail id of the registered user.
  • 8. After validation of the OTP, necessary changes and corrections can also be made.
  • 9. After verification of data is complete, the user must set a secure password and login.
  • 10. Click on register to complete the process.

NEW PAN FOR INDIAN CITIZEN ( FORM 49A)

PAN CARD Form 49A can be defined as application under Section 139A of the Income Tax Act, 1961 required for the allotment of Permanent Account Number . This form is meant for use by the Indian citizens, entity which have been incorporated in India as well as unincorporated entities formed in India. Form 49A can be used for the dual purposes :

  • 1. To apply for a new PAN Card
  • 2. To modifythe information which has been submitted previously.

Form 49A contains many details to be filled in by the applicant such as full name of the applicant, gender details, date of birth, details of parents, address and date of birth.

NEW PAN FOR FOREIGN CITIZEN (FORM 49AA)

PAN Card Form 49AA can be defined as application made under Rule 114 of the Income Tax Rules, 1962for the allotment of the Permanent Account Number to foreign citizens.Form 49AA is meant forthe use of Individuals who are not citizens of India,or are entities incorporated outside India as well as for unincorporated entities which are formed outside India.
Form 49AA also contains details which are required to be filled in by the applicants such as full name of the applicant, gender details, date of birth, details of parents, address and date of birth. In addition to these, details relating to the KYC (Know Your Customer) of the applicant also needs to be filled by Foreign Institutional Investor or Qualified Foreign Investor as made mandatory under guidelines issued by Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).

APPLICATION FOR TAN/CORRECTION
TAN Application( FORM 49B)

  • 1. Visit the website https://tin.tin.nsdl.com/tan/index.html and select the option "Online application for TAN (Form 49B)"
  • After this, select the category 'deductors' from the drop down menu and click on the "Select button.
  • 3. Fill out the requisite particulars on the form, a screen will appear and the user is required to fill all the mandatory details (marked with *)
  • 4. If the data which has been submitted by the applicant fails at any formal level validation, a response will appear on the screen which will indicate the probable errors.
  • 5. Forms can be submitted online only after rectification of the errors.
  • 6. In case if the formal level errors do not exist, a confirmation screen will appear which will contain the data filled by the applicant.
  • 7. If an applicant requires any amendment in the application which has been filled, he can do so by selecting the Edit option.
  • 8. If the displayed information is correct, then the applicant can choose the 'confirm' option.
  • 9. On successful payment offees( if the mode of payment is other than that of DD or Cheque) an acknowledgement is then generated.
  • 10. Applicant should save and then print the acknowledgement receipt and send it to NSDL at the registered address:-

The envelope shall be superscribed as 'APPLICATION FOR TAN-Acknowledgment Number'.
